It’s been almost a year since I got around to buying books. Now I finally have. It’s a sorry 2 book stack that I’ve added to my shelves this month. But I think something is definitely better than nothing.
Without further ado, let me introduce you to the two books.
The first is one of Matthew Reilly’s titles “The Three Secret Cities”. The reason I picked this one is kind of a no-brainer for me - I simply love (almost) all of the books by this author. The genre is right up my alley. Why the almost? Well, his “The Great Zoo of China” was such a disappointment that I almost gave away my copy of the book. Almost.
The second is Atul Jalan’s “Where will Man Take Us: The Bold Story of the Man Technology is Creating”. Over the past couple of years, I’ve become quite curious to understand this - the man that technology is creating. While it’s true that technology is going where man wanted it to go (and then some), it’s also true that man is kind of getting to where technology wants us to be.
Despite my interest in this topic, I surprised myself by opting to buy this book. Why? Well, I have read only a measly number of books authored by Indian writers as opposed to international ones. And that’s partly because I tend to look for works of fiction - a genre that I believe Indian authors are yet to master.
There was one other book on my wishlist that almost made the cut, but was nevertheless replaced by Atul Jalan’s work - Michelle Obama’s Becoming. Want to know why it’s on my this month’s list of books that I want to purchase? Read all about it in my upcoming “Wednesday Wishlist” post.
